Description

The multispectral Telops infrared cameras are equipped with a fast rotating filter wheel with eight positions. This enables the scene signal to be split into different spectral bands instead of generating a single broadband image. This makes it possible to analyse the spectral signature. The filter wheel mechanism is designed to maximise the frame rate of the cameras and can be used in either fixed or rotating mode, with the rotation speed adjustable up to 100 Hz per filter, allowing a frame rate of up to 800 fps in synchronised mode.

Application examples

Volcanology: Volcanic carbon dioxide (CO2) emission rates are of significant relevance for assessing volcanic hazards and analysing the function of magma degassing in the biogeochemical carbon cycle.the figure shows multispectral IR imaging of volcanic passive degassing at the Sulphur Banks in Hawaii. Various spectral bandpass filters were used for this purpose, including CO2 filters. The data was acquired with relatively high spatial resolution, leading to the successful identification and quantification of the emitted carbon dioxide.

Anwendung 2

Combustion analysis: Run through the four combustion stages of a dual-fuel engine – the intake, compression, power stroke and exhaust – and observe them with five different infrared spectral bands.
